Since its TV debut in 2002, I'm A Celebrity has remained a national favorite. Following a group of high-profile stars who have to fight their way for survival in extreme conditions, the ITV show leads viewers on an adventurous and thrilling journey. Of course, the show's smashing success, which has been around for two decades, is thanks to the presence of celebrities. To invite so many TV icons and personalities to appear on I'm A Celeb, the show's bosses have regularly splashed out six-figure payments and other lucrative perks. As I'm A Celeb is about to return to the Australian jungle for its 22nd series, let's take a look at the highest-paid contestants in its history.

Richard Madeley

Richard Madeley

Born on May 13, 1956, Richard Madeley is a famous English journalist, television presenter, and writer. As one of the most regular yet controversial on-screen fixtures, Madeley’s private life has always attracted the interest of the public. His first marriage to Lynda Hooley came to an end after 5 years, in 1983. In 1986, the 66-year-old renowned entertainer and Judy Finnigan tied the knot and have since welcomed 2 children together.

Madeley's brief journey

Turning to work life, Madeley began his career at BBC Radio Carlisle and gradually made a crossover to TV, with prominent shows such as This Morning and Good Morning Britain. After years of being invited to join I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Madeley was confirmed to be a recruit in the 21st series, earning serious money (reportedly £200,000) for his appearance. However, much to the fans' regret, the host left the show due to Covid 19 protocols.

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp

Born on March 2, 1947, Harry Redknapp is a former British football player and a football coach, having managed several European clubs such as AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, and Portsmouth. He is married to his wife, named Sandra, and they have two sons. Since retiring from professional coaching, the veteran has turned to TV and appeared on a number of shows.

Redknapp was King of the Jungle

Redknapp was King of the Jungle

The 75-year-old former coach was crowned King of the Jungle when he reached first place in the 2018 series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and earned a huge fortune for his presence on the show. It is reported that Redknapp took home one of the biggest cuts in the show's history - £500,000.

Amir Khan

Amir Khan

Born on December 8, 1986, Amir Khan is widely known to have one of the highest salaries in the entertainment world. He was a boxer from 2005 to 2022 and during his peak, Khan won a silver medal in the 2004 Olympics and the WBA title at the age of 22. At regional level, Khan held the Commonwealth lightweight title from 2007 to 2008. The 36-year-old former professional boxer got married in 2013 and is now a father of 3 children.

During his stint on the 2017 series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Khan, who finished 5th, was believed to ask for £400,000 - the heftiest payment compared to other contestants. However, as a man dedicated to social causes, he donated the majority of his earnings to a non-profit organization called Barnado's.

Noel Edmonds

Noel Edmonds

A multi-talented entertainer, Noel Edmonds was born on December 22, 1948. He is not only a widely famous radio DJ, businessman, writer, and producer but is also renowned as a television presenter on BBC Radio 1, Sky UK, and Channel 4. Many of his successful shows and programs are Top of the Pops, Multi-coloured Swap Shop, and Deal or no Deal, to name a few.

Edmonds was in the 18th series

Thanks to Edmond's strong TV presence, he was offered a sizable payment of £600,000 for his participation in the 2018 series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. Unfortunately, much to fans and ITV's bosses' disappointment, the TV personality was kicked out on his 9th day of the show.

Adam Woodyatt

Adam Woodyatt

Born on June 28, 1968, Adam Woodyatt is an experienced actor, rising to prominence with his various roles in BBC’s series and programs. The English entertainer started his career when he was only 13 with On the Razzle, and is widely known for his role in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.

Vernon Kay

Born on April 28, 1974, Vernon Kay has a glittering career as a TV presenter. He first burst into the public eye as a model before making a career crossover to TV. Later in his career, Kay became an English television and radio presenter with a myriad of popular programs from BBC Radio 1 such as T4 and The Mag.

Born on March 23, 1983, Mo Farah is one of the most successful track-distance athletes for males. The British long-distance runner has won ten gold medals on a global scale including Olympic and World titles. One of his biggest achievements was when he became a double Olympic Gold Medallist in 2012, and since then, he has been an acclaimed author in the UK with various best-selling autobiographies.

The only contestant to join I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! two times is Katie Price, one of the most famous and equally controversial celebrities in the entertainment world. She is formerly known as William Bruce Jenner with three marriages, one of which was to TV personality Kris Jenner.
