The year 2022 is a landmark year for Britain's royal family because not only does it mark the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II but it also closes a pivotal chapter in British history. From the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the announcement of the new monarch, here are the British royal family's most memorable moments of 2022.

On 24 march 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales spent a week in the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Belize. The Caribbean tour aims to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

The Jubilee marked Queen Elizabeth II's 70th anniversary of her ascension to the throne. The Queen acceded to the throne on 6 February, 1952, making her the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

The Dukeand Duchess of Sussex travelled to the Netherlands to attend the Invictus Games which was their first public international trip together. They stopped over in the UK to visit Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.

His Royal Highness Prince Charles honoured 70 years as Duke of Cornwall on Friday 10 June 2022. As the Prince of Wales is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, he automatically became the 24th Duke of Cornwall.

Historically, Garden Parties were invented to recognise and reward public services. Each year, from May 11 to May 18, the Queen invites over 30,000 people at either Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

On September 6, 2022, two days before her death, Queen Elizabeth appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss. She became her 15th and last prime minister.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle partnered with Netflix to release six-part documentary series about their relationship, coming out on 10 January, 2023. The docuseries trailer was released on 5 December, 2023.

King Charles III celebrated his 74th birthday on 14 November, 2022. On the occasion, he officially replaced his late father as The Ranger of Great Windsor Park.
