This year's competition was held on Monday, 17 October, and 27-year-old Jessica Gagen was crowned the 2022 winner. Winners of the Miss England competition then have the chance to compete in the Miss World competitions each year.

Miss England winner in 2011, Alize Lily Mounter, later came in 4th place in Miss World. She proved to be a favourite that year and was awarded the Miss World Europe title, the first time for a miss England contestant.

Although she didn't hold the title for long, Rachel Christie made history as the first British black woman to be crowned Miss England. Rachel Christie is the niece of famous British Olympic sprinter Linford Christie.

After Christie had stepped down, the Miss England crown was passed to Katrina Hodge, who was the runner-up in the 2009 contest. The beauty pageant contestant has previously earned a commendation of bravery during her time serving with the Royal Anglian Regiment in Iraq.

Holmes began modelling at the age of 19 and, in 2010, appeared on the TV show Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model and came in fourth place.

The beauty queen won the Miss England contest in 2006 and later went on to compete in Miss World in Poland and the Miss Europe contest in Ukraine in the same year.

Miss England 2014 winner Carina Tyrell made headlines as the first woman from one of the top universities in the world to participate in Miss World.

At the age of 22, Miss Derby, Laura Coleman was crowned winner of Miss England in 2008.

Beating out 59 fellow contestants, Kirsty Heslewood won miss England in 2013.

The Miss England title in 2007 went to Georgia Horsley, from Yorkshire. Horsley later signed up with a top model agency in London.
