Interestingly, Bublé was initially too timid to ask Lopilato out on a date, and she initially assumed he was gay. A linguistic hurdle existed between them, as Lopilato had a limited understanding of English, and Bublé didn't speak Spanish. Despite this, they managed to communicate using a translator and through text messages.
