Phillip Schofield notched up success as the BBC Children's TV presenter and became a household name in the UK for presenting a wide range of programmes for ITV and the BBC. After a career that has spanned decades, the English television presenter has stepped down from presenting the daytime ITV show This Morning. From an unknown radio presenter to the King of Daytime TV, the 61-year broadcaster has left an unforgettable mark on the British entertainment industry.

Aged 19, he moved with his family to New Zealand where he made his television debut as the host of the youth music show Shazam for three years. Schofield also worked for Radio Hauraki, an Auckland-based radio station.

The Oldham-born star signed a contract to host the Saturday morning programme Going Live!in 1987. Co-presented by Sarah Greene, this BBC One's television series for British children aired from 26 September 1987 to 17 April 1993.

Schofield originally presented the BBC quiz show alongside Anne Robinson between 2002 and 2006. The two-part live interactive quiz was inspired by the Netherlands TV programme to measure the viewers’ IQ.

In 2002, Phillip Schofield 40 began co-hosting ITV's daytime magazine programme called This Morning alongside Fern Britton. Schofield remade the daytime talk show in his image to attract a wide viewership.

The popular ITV daytime programme Have I Been Here Before? was also presented by Phillip Schofield in 2005. The show invited celebrities who guested the chance to know if they have lived before, in a past life.

The king of The British Soap Awards

Since 2006, the father of two daughters has fronted The British Soap Awards, the UK's annual awards ceremony that honours the best British soap operas. Schofield would continue to host The British Soap Awards despite his departure from This Morning.

It's Now or Never

Another memorable game show hosted by Phillip Schofield was It's Now or Never, which was broadcast on ITV from 22 July 2006 to 30 December 2006. He had only presented two episodes before the programme was cancelled.

Holly Willoughby joined Schofield in This Morning

TV king working for ITV had shared the sofa with Holly Willoughby on the daytime programme This Morning since 2009. As the duo fronted on both This Morning and Dancing On Ice, they shared a close friendship off-screen.
