The well-known and sometimes controversial British Journalist Laura Kuenssberg is the first woman to have held the position of BBC political editor. Kuenssberg presents the Sunday morning politics show on the BBC. Here we take a look back at her life and career.

Laura was born in Rome, Italy, on the 8th of August 1976 to Sally and Nick Kuenssberg. Laura's grandfather was the honoured German-born physician Ekkehard von Kuenssberg who became the president of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Scotland.

Laura also presented the well-known Brexit documentary films, The Brexit Storm and the Brexit Storm Continues. Here Tim Farron, the then-leader of the Liberal Democrats, gives an interview with Kuenssberg on the day Brexit was formally triggered.

Pictured here interviewing MP Iain Duncan Smith, Laura has had a number of standout moments in her career. In 2016 she reported that the Queen had spoken of her support of leaving the European Union. At a joint press conference with Donald Trump and Theresa May, she asked the then-President of the United States if he had anything to say to those "worried about him becoming the leader of the free world".

Laura Kuenssberg and her colleagues were also pictured with Sir David Attenborough at the London Press Club Awards 2019.

Laura has received a number of awards during her career, including the broadcaster of the year from the Political Studies Association and the Journalist of the Year Award at the British Journalism Awards.

Sunday Morning Show

After stepping down as political editor Laura in May 2022, she replaced Sophie Raworth and Andrew Marr as the host of the now-entitled Sunday with Kuenssberg morning show. The political show airs on both BBC online and BBC One on Sundays.

Laura Kuenssberg Sunday Show

The then MP, Liz Truss, appeared on the first edition of the Laura Kuenssberg Sunday Show in September 2022. Liz Truss went on to be voted in as the new leader and the U.K. Prime Minister.
